Makeup for video

Girl Glitz has been on-set a lot lately, helping prepare faces for a range of short videos.

Some of the jobs include working with professional models, but some of the people I’ve been working with are ordinary people who are doing extraordinary things.

I had the pleasure of meeting a range of women working hard in health services to improve the lives of those in aged care facilities. A very inspiring bunch.

I’ve also gotten to see first-hand the amazing results of health and skin studio Diamond Face and Body as I’ve been preparing the skin of clients for interview to use on the studio’s new website.

Ontera video shoot

Creating natural, healthy looking skin for video and film is more work than you’d imagine. If you go ahead and shoot without applying the right foundations and highlights, the result is a very washed-out look.

I was asked to prepare James and Craig (from Ontera) for some publicity shoots and information videos based around a new range of modular carpets the company was launching. The resulting looks compliment the video settings, and enhances the expressivenes of the men as they discuss their work.

TV Commercial – Vibrance

For this television commercial, we wanted to create a healthy outdoor glow on the actor’s face and skin. The filming itself was done indoors, with the rural and natural backgrounds added later by the editor and motion graphics producer at Orion Creative.

The other role in this commercial for me as a makeup artist was ensuring continuity in the actor’s appearance. The first part of the ad had been shot as part of an earlier commercial, and was edited together with the newer film we shot on the day. It was important that the actor looked like he’d stepped straight from one part of the commercial to the next.
